Luma AI Expands to London Amid $4B Valuation, Plans 200 Hires
Luma AI, the NVIDIA-backed video generation startup valued at $4 billion, is establishing a London hub as its European beachhead. The Palo Alto-based firm will onboard approximately 200 employees (40% of its global workforce) across research, engineering, and partnerships by early 2027.
The UK expansion leverages London's talent pool for Luma's AI video models, which target advertising, media, and entertainment sectors. Its API-delivered content creation suite already competes with generative AI tools from OpenAI and Google.
CEO Amit Jain frames the MOVE as phase one of a broader push into Europe and the Middle East, fueled by $900 million in Series C funding. 'We're scaling world models that learn from multimodal inputs—video, text, audio—to empower creatives globally,' he stated.
